The "Mike" in Mike's Midnight Movie Reviews refers to me, Michael J. Doyle. From 1992 to 1997, I produced a television program called FILM FLICKS & VIDEO PIX, which aired on OBC-TV in northeast New Jersey and LTV in eastern Long Island. It was a movie showcase program, featuring clips, soundbites and behind-the-scenes looks from current movies. In conjunction with the show, I attended advanced screenings of new movies.

Back in August of 1995, I realized I had fallen into a pattern. On a typical screening night, I would drive into Manhattan for the screening around 8, returning to New Jersey around midnight. I'd often reply to my e-mail at that hour, and often I'd include my impressions of the movie I just saw. One day, I thought, "Why not make an Internet mailing list out of this? That way more people can find out about these movies before they go into wide release." Besides, it would save me from copying my review every time I sent a friend e-mail. The list was born.

Naturally, all my reviews reflect what I think and generally don't attempt to account for every taste. If you know me, you know I have strong opinions about art, but you also know that my tastes are quite broad.
